The Nerd

My Favorite TV Show

Chuck rules!

Did I mention I’m a nerd of sorts? Not nerdy, just highly interested in technology and such.

It all started with an Atari 2600 at a very young age, and it soon evolved into a Timex Sinclaire 1000 computer. This stuff goes back a few years. I took comp science in high school but it was all unimpressive beginner stuff. I did a lot of main-frame old-school stuff in the Navy…

In 1990 I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books on computers–that was some DRY reading… Finally, I wised up and found myself a mentor. He, coupled with a vigorous reading schedule did the trick. In 2000 I started fixing and building computers. I also started dabling in web design and development. (Don’t bag on me for not self-hosting my own blog–I really don’t have time and Word Press is a god-send).

Within a couple of years I started my own company. I quickly honed in on the cause of most people’s computer problems and began some serious target marketing. I did pretty good and eventually added web design and development to my company’s services. I code with HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL — learned it all by reading, doing, and trial and error. I got pretty good at SEO, graphics, and other related stuff along the way. I ended up doing IT admin, network admin, programming, and all manner of things nerd related.

I’m a life-long learner when it comes to nerd stuff, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds in technology.
